What is naturopathic medicine?
The principles of naturopathic medicine seek to identify and treat the root cause of disease rather than suppressing symptoms. Your initial visit lasts 75-90 minutes to allow time to investigate any and all factors that may be contributing to the patients current state. Naturopathic doctors seek modalities and treatments that do no harm but instead work synergistically to treat the whole person on many levels while supporting the healing power of the body. We are also committed to our role as teacher to emphasize prevention through diet and lifestyle modifications.
Botanical Medicine uses the healing power of plants to treat disease and promote optimal health and well being. Through most parts of the world, plant medicine is the primary healing modality and the basis of pharmacology. The use of plants for nutrition and medicine interact with the body on many levels providing additional benefits.
Traditional Chinese Medicine is a branch of traditional medicine based on more than 3,500 years of Chinese medical practice. TCM is based on the theory that the body's vital energy, known as Qi, is circulating within the body along meridians, which connect to bodily organs and functions. When the flow of Qi is disrupted, it results in disease. TCM aims to restore the smooth flow of Qi and remove any blockages to prevent, diagnose, and treat disease.
Nutritional Medicine examines the connection between disease and diet/lifestyle. Special diets, exercise options, and nutritional supplements are used to restore optimal health and prevent disesase as symptoms can often be due to dietary deficiencies or food sensitivities.
